First AusSIP exhibit at Jobs Expo promotes Sign careers

Weaker Yen, increased sales help Mimaki present good Q1 result

Mimaki has joined other Japanese wide format manufacturers in announcing good sales growth for the first quarter of 2022. 'China and Russia' affected the results but sales were still up 13.4% and operating profit up 10.3% over 2021's Q1. The forecast for the half and full financial years has been revised upwards accordingly.

IVE Group launches bid for Ovato

Print and marketing company IVE Group has told the ASX it has launched an ‘implementation deed’ to acquire its troubled competitor Ovato, which last month went into administration. The proposed deal would need ACCC clearance.

Domino-owner Brother Industries: sales up, profits down a little, print shines

Brother Industries, who owns Domino inkjet and also make direct-to-garment printers, industrial labelling printers, coding & marking equipment and MFPs, has posted encouraging results for its first quarter of the Japanese 2022-23 financial year April-June. Sales revenues were just over $2 billion in Australian dollars - a rise of 14.8% over 2021 first quarter - but profits took a slight hit, reflecting the global business costs environment. Print and inkjet were star performers.

Ricoh Q1 sales up 8% despite shortages

Ricoh said sales for the first quarter (April 1 – June 30, 2022) increased by 8.1% PCP to ¥459.3 billion ($4.9 billion AUD). “Growth and sales recovered moderately due to the continued impact of material shortages and COVID-19,” the company reported. “In the industrial printing business, sales increased due to strong sales of components mainly for sign graphics.”
