Beware Artificial Intelligence pitfalls - a cautionary tale to let Real Intelligence prevail

Our colleague Will Shipton at Inside Imaging has a cautionary tale about trying out an AI platform aimed at photographers. Photo AI launched its debut media campaign a month ago by making some bold claims. Wide Format Online itself has had some weird experiences trying AI, with wildly inaccurate answers to questions, filled out with puffery, cliches and platitudes. Here is Will Shipton's experience.

Roland DG launches cardboard-based ink cartridges

New recyclable cardboard cartridges will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by about 350 tons and plastic by about 95 tons per year, according to Roland DG Corporation, the global manufacturer of wide-format inkjet printers for advertising and signage.

Canva/Warner deal lets users incorporate song clips into visual designs

Australian-owned global online design giant Canva’s new partnership with Warner Music Group and music licensing company Merlin will allow Canva customers to use music clips in their designs. The Sydney-based platform has 135 million global users who create an average of 250 designs every second.

Epson and Nakazato unveil ‘future of sustainable fashion’

Part of the designer YUIMA NAKAZATO’s new collection unveiled at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week at the Palais de Tokyo was created using a combination of Epson printing technology and a new fabric production process. The fabric used to create the new line was derived from used garments sourced in Africa.

ACCC's draft guidelines on ‘potentially misleading’ greenwashing
