Konica Minolta/3D Systems satellite parts head into space

Australian small satellite manufacturer Fleet Space has chosen Konica Minolta Australia to provide a 3D printing solution for the manufacture of critical aluminium antenna parts in a “precise, repeated, and scalable method.”

Konica Minolta appoints Andrew Cocker as GM production & industrial print

ASGA encourages take-up of NSW TAFE Trade Pathways Program

ASGA (Australian Sign & Graphics Association), is encouraging all business owners and staff based in NSW that have been working in the sign industry for at least two years but are not yet formally qualified, to consider a fee-free Certificate III qualification under TAFE NSW’s Trade Pathways Program. Epson Australia to show new SurePress L-4733AW label printer at PacPrint

Konica Minolta announces new AccurioLabel 400 digital label press

Konica Minolta in Europe has announced a new label press in its successful AccurioLabel series. The AccurioLabel 400, is capable of faster speeds up to 39.9 mpm and higher uptime through more durable components. AccurioLabel 230 machines installed can be upgraded to 400 spec. In Europe, Konica Minolta claims a 28% market share in 2021. Globally, the company installed its 1,000th AccurioLabel 230 in 2022.

Fujifilm opens $19m aqueous inkjet factory in Delaware

Fujifilm Imaging Colorants has opened the first of two new facilities in Delaware dedicated to the production of aqueous ink inkjet dispersions to meet the fast-growing global demand for inkjet printing.

NZ imposes $9.7m fine on 'deceptive' Australia/NZ freight cartels

“These cartel arrangements had the effect of removing competition, making it possible that customers were charged more by counterparties for retail freight forwarding services,” said NZCC chair Anna Rawlings. One of the two international freight companies fined, Mondiale Freight Services, is based in Sydney; the second company, Oceanbridge Shipping, has headquarters in Auckland.

A promotional pocketbook printed by Penrose, Auckland-based Logick Print has won the coveted Supreme Award at New Zealand’s Pride in Print Awards gala dinner held at Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre. It's the fourth Supreme award for the specialist print house and industry innovator. The BJ Ball Apprentice of the Year title went to Kosema Fuiono from Blue Star Collard (Auckland). 

Kodak turbo-drives inket web speed up to 410 metres/minute with new Prosper 7000

Kodak unveiled the KODAK PROSPER 7000 Turbo Press, a full-colour perfector, at its inkjet facility in Dayton, Ohio. Kodak's new inkjet web press uses Stream Inkjet Technology, offering printing speeds of up to 410 linear mpm or up to 5,523 A4 ppm, which the company claims is almost 35% faster than its nearest competitor. Although a major offset plate supplier, Kodak sees a shift in more long run jobs from conventional printing processes to inkjet.

Return of trade shows drives demand for industrial printers

Industrial printer shipments declined 2.1% year over year in the first quarter of 2022 (1Q22), as the market faced a range of supply chain issues, according to new data from the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Industrial Printer Tracker. However, “the resumption of trade shows, the drive for sustainable textile printing, and the reopening of retail are still driving demand," the IDC added.
