NZ printers facing long clean-up after record flooding

National print association PrintNZ says many of its members across the upper North Island are facing the prospect of a long recovery after devastating flooding in the region. Homes and businesses in Auckland were again flooded on Wednesday morning as heavy rain continued in what insurers have called 'the biggest climate event' in New Zealand's history. 

Canon total income up 13% to ¥244bn as print profit falls

Canon’s Printing Business Unit posted an increase in revenue but profit was down, “reflecting a significant increase in parts and logistical costs, and a decline in consumables sales, as home demand for inkjet printers peaked out.” However, production printing remained a bright spot, with “an increase in the number of dealers that handle our large format printers, and subsequent growth in sales.”

The Australian Out of Home (OOH) industry announced an increase of 27.6% on net media revenue for 2022, reporting $1,060.5 million, up from an adjusted figure of $831.1 million for 2021. The Outdoor Media Association (OMA) says it's added 16 new members in the last 18 months.

Xerox reports strong Q4 after challenging year

“Resilient demand and improvements in supply chain conditions drove solid Q4 growth in revenue and profits,” said Xerox CEO Steve Bandrowczak in the print giant's latest financial update. Fourth quarter revenue was $1.94 billion, up 9.2% year-over-year.

Former Orora USA exec Frank Pennisi is EFI’s new CEO

Electronics For Imaging (EFI) has appointed industrial technology veteran Frank Pennisi as its new chief executive officer. Pennisi’s previous postion was as President of Orora Packaging Solutions, based in California. Orora is listed on the ASX, and installed an EFI Nozomi digital corrugated press in 2019.

From toner to inkjet - David Procter joins Kyocera Document Solutions

Industry stalwart David Procter has joined Kyocera Document Solutions as Regional General Manager & National Print Production Manager, following a short hiatus after his departure from Konica Minolta in October 2022. This means a focus on the flagship SRA3 printer - the Kyocera TASKalfa 1500C - powered by inkjet, not toner. Kyocera is a world-leading supplier of ceramic 1200dpi printheads used in many leading printers, such as Screen's L350UV label presses.
