NZ OOH revenue jumps 10% to $131 million

The Out of Home Media Association Aotearoa (OOHMAA) says 2022 revenue was up 10% year-on-year to $131m, with digital screens taking in 67% of total revenue.

Roland DG introduces new DTF VersaSTUDIO BN-20D

Roland DG Corporation has announced the worldwide launch of a new product in its popular VersaSTUDIO series, the BN-20D, a Direct-To-Film (DTF transfer) desktop inkjet printer targeting small- and medium-sized print shops, apparel businesses and start-ups. DTF is gaining popularity for heat transfer onto textiles such as Tee-shirts.

Opal “seriously” considering closing Maryvale paper operation

More than 300 jobs are on the line as Opal Australian Paper considers the closure of its paper operations at the Maryvale Mill in eastern Victoria, following a Supreme Court order that forced pulp supplier VicForests to scale back harvesting in endangered possum habitats. “Despite our best endeavours, Opal has been unable to source viable alternative wood supplies to replace the VicForests shortfall,” the company said.

400 car billboard ads hacked across Europe

More than 400 car billboards in 14 European cities have been hacked and replaced by climate activists who accuse Toyota and BMW of using the advertising to "greenwash their public image while lobbying hard against climate regulations.”

Paper woes: Opal stands down 37 workers on full pay at Maryvale paper mill

Opal Australian Paper has stood down 37 workers at its paper mill in Maryvale, eastern Victoria, with a further 120 workers expected to be stood down later this month or early next month. The move follows a Supreme Court order that forced supplier VicForests to scale back its harvesting operations in endangered possum habitats. The Victorian government has stepped in to reach an agreement with Opal that ensures - "until mid-February" - workers who are stood down will receive full pay and entitlements.
