Manufacturing expands amid concerns over Sydney headwinds

Ai Group’s Australian Performance of Manufacturing Index eased slightly in July but remained in “strong expansionary territory” after its 10th consecutive month of growth. The employers group expressed concern over tough restrictions in Sydney local government areas where there's a concentration of manufacturing sites and workers.

Call for insolvency protections after 75% jump in businesses entering administration

Australian Small Business Ombudsman Bruce Billson has urged the Federal Government to reactivate temporary insolvency protections after a sharp increase in businesses entering administration in the last week of June.

Business support expanded in NSW & VIC as Sydney lockdown extended a month

The Federal Government is increasing the COVID disaster payment to $750 for workers who have lost more than 20 hours a week of work, as NSW extended its lockdown by one month. The expanded NSW COVID-19 Business Support Payment will now cover 400,000 businesses employing 3.3 million workers.

Phillip Burns joins Agfa Graphics as Sales Manager, Inkjet

Xerox Q2 revenue up 22% amid concern over COVID variants

Xerox posted $US1.79 billion of revenue in 2021 second-quarter results, up 22.4 percent year-over-year, but said recovery may be “uneven and affected by the emergence of new variants of the COVID-19 virus.” The board declared a quarterly dividend of 25c per share.

New Roland DG Connect app monitors printers in real time

The new app is available for use with all TrueVIS series printers and printer cutters, and is free to new and existing Roland DG owners.

Mitsubishi HiTec Paper jacks up prices 20%

Mitsubishi JetScript papers may not be well known under that name here but they find their way into the market under several other brand names. The mill, based in Germany, is renowned for coating very high quality stocks - and they are going up 20% across the board from September. The size of this increase is staggering - and probably indicative of more manufacturers doing similar adjustments. Mitsubishi had already increased inkjet paper prices by 5% in March 2021

Two more digital billboards for oOh! in prominent Sydney locations

It was a site begging for a billboard - Pacific Highway at Gordon where a pedestrian footbridge has linked two sides of the Gordon Centre for years, with the highway thundering on below. Now oOh! media has bagged it and it looks great, both day and night. In this instance, digital makes complete sense as ad changes can be made remotely, without blocking the busy arterial road out of Sydney to the north.

Roland DG to ramp up production of wide-format inkjet printers

Epson takes global warming seriously with heat-free tech

The Arctic is warming twice as fast as the rest of the Earth. As its permafrost ice melts, powerful methane greenhouse gases are released into the atmosphere, which speeds up global warming in an increasingly destructive cycle. Professor Katey Walter Anthony is an Arctic researcher and National Geographic Explorer, and her work, with a little help from Epson, has helped to reveal that Arctic lakes are emitting five times more methane than previously thought.

It is with great sadness that we have to announce that the Board of PacPrint, incorporating Visual Impact and the Label & Packaging Expo, have today decided to postpone the shows until June-July 2022. Major trade shows need several weeks of preparation for both organisers and visitors, with interstate and international visitors also needing certainty in order to plan their time, travel and accommodation. The latest Covid-19 situations can not provide that certainty.
